Jewel-Osco Gives Customers Choice of COVID Vaccines – NBC Chicago

Jewel-Osco gives its customers the choice for which coronavirus vaccine they want to make an appointment.

The supermarket chain allows customers to choose which vaccine they want while looking for an appointment, when available.

On the company’s vaccine planner, customers can select whether to check for appointments with the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose vaccines, or with the single-use Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

“Osco Drug Pharmacy is offering customers a choice of vaccines based on the allotment received,” a company spokesperson told NBC 5. “We will add appointments for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as stock becomes available.”

While there are many options for residents to look for coronavirus vaccinations, many do not offer a choice on which vaccine is administered.

That could change, however, as Illinois expects an influx of vaccines in the coming days.

According to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are expected to increase dramatically “very soon.”

“We expect a significant number, millions of doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to begin in the coming days,” the governor said at an unrelated news conference Friday. “And then hopefully a continued increase at Johnson & Johnson, and we will continue to see an increase at Pfizer and Moderna.”
