After saying she gave birth six weeks ago, Slate joked about not choosing a name for her daughter that would more accurately reflect her pregnancy during the pandemic: “ We should have thought more about giving her something to commemorate this special time in our universe. “
Slate then went on to discuss the baby naming process, saying that she and fiancĂ© Ben Stattuck “looked at some Eastern European names” after discovering that part of her family was from an area in Europe.
“One name we were both obsessed with was the spelled bagrat,” she went on, struggling not to laugh. “And while I was pregnant, we kept calling her Bagrat, which I certainly don’t know … how to pronounce that.”
Slate also became clear about giving birth during the pandemic, which she described as “a really important time to have a baby now.” Fortunately, Stattuck was able to join her in the delivery room.
“We had our masks on and stuff, which is good because I made a lot of faces that I might not want him to remember.”
Slate described the experience of childbirth as “A totally extreme experience in which I lost every filter I might already have. After I had the baby … I thought, ‘Did my vagina split in half? or not? ”
Congratulations to the new parents!
