Brand new for 2021, the Grand Cherokee finally gets a third row after all these years, adding an L to the model name with that row. Jeep today released the prices for that version. While the build-and-price tool isn’t on the site yet, Jeep has outlined a few options for all trim levels.

The Grand Cherokee L comes in four trim levels with two different engines and a choice of rear-wheel drive or three different four-wheel drive systems (Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II). There are Laredo, Limited, Overland and Summit trims. Engine choices are what we would expect from Stellantis. Choose from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 290 hp or the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 357 hp. Four-wheel drive is a $ 2,000 option with every trim.

The base Laredo starts at the aforementioned $ 36,995. Inside is a huge standard touchscreen. At 10.2 inches, it is equipped with the latest generation of the excellent UConnect 5. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard. If you have a family with a lot of devices, they should have no problems charging them in the interior. There are a total of 12 USB ports in various places inside.

There is also the standard package of driver safety systems such as lane departure warning, rear path detection and collision warning. Electric folding exterior mirrors, 18-inch wheels, cloth seats and automatic temperature control round out some of the standard features. It is quite neatly equipped.

Next up is the Limited trim. Starting at $ 43,995, it builds on the Laredo by coming up with more luxurious features. This is also the trim where, when equipped with four-wheel drive, Jeep’s Selec Terrain management system comes as standard. Inside are standard leather Capri seats with electric drive and heating for the first two rows, a premium audio system with six speakers and atmospheric interior lighting.

Grand Cherokee L Overland

The Overland trim is next in the line-up. Starting at $ 52,995, this is the version where the Hemi V8 becomes available. Remember, you can only get the Hemi with four-wheel drive. Yes, this means you have to spend a lot of money to get V8 power. The V8 is $ 3,295 more than the Overland 4X4 with the V6. This means that a Grand Cherokee L Overland V6 4X4 starts at $ 54,995. So a base Overland 4X4 V8 is nearly $ 60,000 against $ 58,290. However, it comes luxuriously trimmed. On the outside are chrome accents on things like the tow bars and mirrors. You can get a contrasting roof in glossy black paint, 20-inch wheels and door handles that give a great presence when approaching. Inside, heated and cooled Nappa leather seats, an Alpine sound system with nine speakers, a panoramic roof and an electric folding third row of seats are standard.

Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve

Finally, the top of the line is Summit. Starting at $ 56,995, it’s pretty much the ultimate Grand Cherokee L. You can make it even more luxurious with a premium package called Summit Reserve, which starts at around $ 62,000. All three rows have quilted nappa leather seats. This is interesting because most automakers that offer leather on three-row vehicles do not usually cover the third row with leather. There is an oak-trimmed steering wheel, a 16-way adjustable driver’s seat, a five-position massage function for the front seats and a four-zone climate control.

Whichever Grand Cherokee L model you choose, it is a well-equipped and spacious addition to the three-row SUV / crossover segment. It would be nice if you could get the Hemi V8 on the bottom trims for buyers who want more towing power cheaply. The Grand Cherokee L is coming to dealers this spring.
