Jasmine Camacho-Quinn has her best time of the year at 100 meters hurdles

The Puerto Rican athlete Jasmine Camacho-Quinn took a victory in the 100 meter hurdles on Saturday with a time of 12.32 seconds, to now rank seventh on the all-time list at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, in turn breaking the national record and setting this year’s fastest time worldwide.

With this result, Camacho-Quinn exceeded his limit of 12.40 seconds. This was his second 100m hurdle race of the year.

“Right now it is the best time in the world ever recorded this year,” said Luis Dieppa, the president of the local athletics federation. “It’s great. She’s very strong. He has run well in the 200 and 400 meters (sprints) and is still preparing for the Olympics. It’s a matter of staying healthy,” added Dieppa.

In Gainesville, the two-time NCAA champion broke the national record she set in 2018. The world record of 12.20 seconds belongs to Kendra Harrison.

Behind her were British sisters Tiffany Porter and Cindy Sember who recorded 12.62 seconds and Brittany Anderson finished fourth with 12.91.

The hurdler – who hit her second Olympic ticket after competing in the 2016 Rio Games – was active in the Spring Classic, which was held in Carolina from March 18-20. There he took part in the 4×400 meter relay with Priscila Morales, París García and Gabby Scott. They came in second with a record of 3: 36.26, which was not enough for this relay to break their record for qualifying for the Olympics.
