Jane Fonda is happy to embrace single life.
The two-time Oscar winner graces the April cover of Harper’s Bazaar and reveals in the accompanying interview that she has little interest in finding a romantic partner at this stage in her life.
“One of the painful things I realized when I was 80 – I don’t even know how old I am – 83, and now single,” said Fonda. “What I really had to think about is that I’m not really capable [of intimacy]They are not. It’s me.”
“I don’t want to be in a relationship again, not a sexual relationship,” she continued. “I don’t have that desire.”
Of course, that didn’t stop the “ Grace and Frankie ” star from judging “ fantasy ” suitors, noting that she would love to meet have a wife so I could test myself and see if I could show up. ”
“I think I might be able to do it now, but the problem is, like a man, I would want a younger man,” she added. ‘Isn’t that awful? It has something to do with the skin. I would like a younger man, and I am too vain. ”
Fortunately, Fonda has not been attached since her divorce in 2017 from record producer Richard Perry, whom she dated for nearly a decade. Her third and most recent marriage was to CNN founder Ted Turner. The couple divorced in 2001 after 10 years together.
It’s not the first time the famously outspoken actor has suggested that her love life is no longer a focus. In 2018, she told ‘Extra’ that she ‘closed the store down there’ after she and Perry broke up.
“I’m not dating anymore,” she said at the time, “but I did until a few years ago.”
When Fonda can never enjoy another romantic occasion again, she tells Harper’s Bazaar that she believes there is a silver lining.
“I am very grateful that I never have to be naked in front of anyone again, even by candlelight,” she joked. “And if I did, I mean in my fantasy, the guy is younger than me, so that would make it even more difficult.”
Today Fonda is engaged in political and environmental activism. Last month, she spoke passionately about the need for diverse storytelling at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards, where she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award in recognition of her five-decade career.
This summer, she and Lily Tomlin will be filming the seventh and final season of “Grace and Frankie”, which will reportedly feature their “9 to 5” co-star Dolly Parton.
