Jan Blachowicz Defends UFC Light Heavyweight Title vs. Glover Teixeira at UFC 266

UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz will seek his second title defense against Glover Teixeira in September, UFC President Dana White told ESPN.

The £ 205 title fight will take place at a UFC 266 pay-per-view event on Sept. 4. UFC has not announced an official venue for the event.

Blachowicz (28-8) takes perhaps the biggest win of his career, a five-round title defense against then-undefeated middleweight champion Israel Adesanya on March 6. The Polish champion won the vacant belt by knocking out Dominick Reyes in September.

With his latest win, Blachowicz cracked ESPN’s pound-for-pound list at number 6.

Teixeira (32-7) is the clear number 1 in the division, thanks to an unlikely run at the age of 41. The Brazilian veteran unsuccessfully challenged former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones for the title in 2014, amassing an average 5-5 record between 2014 and 2018.

But he’s been on fire since early 2019, racking up five consecutive wins and four finishes. He comes off a TKO finish in November from former title challenger Thiago Santos.
