According to VarietyJamie Foxx will play Mike Tyson in a “biographical limited series” about the boxer with Antoine Fuqua as director and Martin Scorsese apparently on board as executive producer. As prestige-friendly as it sounds, the project counts Tyson itself among its executive producers, which gives rise to certain assumptions about what the tone of this thing might be (or even what kind of content it might include). The Variety The story says it will take “Tyson’s entire life,” but it’s unclear whether that includes the abuse allegations against Tyson or his conviction for rape in the early 1990s. It would be almost difficult not To mention that, but with Tyson’s executive producer and a famous, beloved actor playing him … it’s hard to predict how this will happen.

No networks or streamers are involved yet and the pilot is being written by Colin Peterson. Variety also points out that this is the second Mike Tyson project announced in the past month, along with the other-a Hulu limited series featuring does not have Tyson’s involvement– be judged by the boxer as “inappropriate” and “tone deaf”. The Hulu Title, Entitled Iron Mike, comes from Me, TonyaSteven Rogers, Craig Gillespie and Margot Robbie, with Rogers writing, Gillespie directing and Robbie producing.
