Honduras’ government on Twitter denied on Saturday that President Juan Orlando Hernández accepted drug money from the alleged drug trafficker Geovanny Daniel Fuentes Ramirez, which is being prosecuted by the American justice system.

The documents presented Friday for the Southern District of New York do not specifically name the Honduran president, they only refer to CC-4 (co-conspirator 4) as brother Juan Antonio Hernández, who was convicted of drug trafficking in 2019. and use weapons and lying to authorities by a jury of the United States Court of Justice for the Southern District of New York.

Fuentes Ramírez is charged with conspiring to import cocaine into the United States, use and transport machine guns and destructive devices during and in connection with, and possession of machine guns and destructive devices to further the cocaine import plot; and conspiracy to use and transport machine guns and destructive devices during and in connection with, and possess machine guns and destructive devices to further the conspiracy of cocaine imports.
