A 30-year-old Italian bodybuilder has confessed to killing his parents – after being asked to get out of bed and take the dog out, according to reports.
Benno Neumair admitted to police that he murdered his mother, Laura Perselli, 63, and father, Peter Neumair, 68, in January in the northern city of Bolzano, Italian news agency Ansa reported.
The buff son claimed his father accused him of being “a failure” during an argument, according to the Daily Star.
The elderly Neumair is said to have accused Benno, who fell asleep after playing on his computer, for not doing his share of the household chores, including walking the dog, the news report said.
He allegedly strangled his father to ‘shut him up’.
“I took the first climbing rope I found from the plastic bin of my tools,” Benno said, according to police.
“We sat in the hall and fell to the floor together. I just remember squeezing really hard, ”he continued according to the report.
Benno said that when his mother returned home shortly afterwards, he strangled her with the same rope.
“I did it without even saying goodbye,” he reportedly told investigators.
He is said to have thrown his parents’ bodies off a bridge into the Adige River.
Perselli’s body was found with signs of strangulation. The father’s body has not been found.
Prosecutors have requested a psychiatric test for Neumair, who was arrested on Jan. 29, about three weeks after his parents disappeared, Ansa said.
He is being held on charges of murder and hiding the body.
