It was not given at Christmas because there was nothing

The Cuban presenter Rashel Díaz, who hosted the television program “Un Nuevo Día” for the Telemundo network for twelve years, remembered his childhood in Cuba and how the Christmas celebrations were experienced then.

From his Instagram account, Díaz shared a text message with a photo with his father, where he returned to that time. “When I was little and living in Cuba, things weren’t really given away at Christmas because it’s no secret to anyone, there was nothing!” She said.

“The usual on Epiphany Day was to go to a store, stand in a long line to find toys that the government gave you, they weren’t the best, but as a kid I was always happy with that,” said them.

“The first time a toy blinded me was about 7 or 8 years old. My dad sent me a beautiful little doll from here (United States), with her rosy cheeks, a pacifier in her mouth and when she took it off she cried “he said.

“My people, you don’t know how great that was for me, I’ve never seen anything like it. After that I slept with her every day and loved her for a long time, that was my best gift in my childhood, today I think about that girl and how it is possible that a simple doll could make her so happy and I pray to God that there have been many children who have spent a beautiful Christmas where they lack nothing and could be blinded by their best present this year, ”he said.

“Your story made me cry, something similar happened to me, and in my beloved Venezuela it still happens, children without toys, families without Christmas dinner, families alienated. God allow my country and yours to see the light of prosperity soon, ”said one user.

Diaz was fired by Telemundo last August. Since 2008 she has been a member of the founders of the morning show team “Un Nuevo Día”. The chain had been firing staff for some time due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Díaz stated that he lost his job there I personally would take it as a cycle that ends and the great beginning of many dreams to overcome. Díaz confessed that his followers on social networks felt ready to receive everything that was yet to come in his life.

On her Instagram account, she has been very active with various publications and this Christmas she also shared photos with her loved ones.

The Christmas tradition involves giving gifts to children in families. However, it is known that in Cuba toys are not only scarce, but also exaggeratedly priced, to the point that even the official press has criticized this issue.

Pictures of a Barbie doll were published at the beginning of the year for nearly a hundred dollars in a store in Havana, a price that is clearly absurd in a country where the current average salary is less than $ 50 a month.
