Cuban musicians Descemer Bueno and Israel Rojas, director of the Buena Fe duo, had a social networking controversy over the Homeland and Life issue.

The debate began as a result of a publication of the troubadour Ray Fernández in which he shared a photo with the word “PATA” on his stomach and a note that read: “Complete the title of my new song”, a nod to the phrase Homeland and Life that Yotuel had written on his chest in the video clip of the recently released song.

In the post, he generated a wave of responses that included musicians Adrián Berazaín and Israel Rojas, both of whom made irony about the title of Ray’s alleged song.

The next day, Bueno shared a video on his Facebook to talk about the success of Patria y Vida, which he already surpassed at the time. a million views on YouTube.

In the direct sense, he referred to several themes, including his relationship with the late musician Santiago Feliú, whom he considers his teacher, and admires his honesty that has never allowed him to lie about Cuba’s realities.

In this sense, he compared Rojas and Berazaín to Raúl Torres, whom he regards as the troubadour of the dictatorship, and questioned their uncritical position with the Havana government.

“It’s very easy to be a communist by boarding presidents who don’t let countries eat,” he said.

“The worst of all religions is ignorance and you are ignorant. They are all taken to serve as state security agents,” he added.

Descemer clarified that the song Patria y Vida, in which he participates with Yotuel, Gente de Zona, Maykel Osorbo and El Funky, was written directly for the Castro dictatorship. “If you take it personally, it’s because you belong to that dictatorship, because you eat it,” he said.

Israel Rojas responded to Descemer on his Facebook page, alluding to the relationship the two had in the past. Something that Bueno had also commented on in his video when he talked about the song they both wrote together, Being from the sun

“Again, Descemer Bueno uses my name for more than just talking about songs. I’ve never had any bad feelings for him, nor said anything to him, or done anything to him. Think how you think. Why should I do it? have never used the networks. social to stir up hatred and conflict, nor to clear up disagreements or misunderstandings. But sometimes it is necessary to make things clear, “began his Israel post.

The director of the duo Buena Fe also referred to his relationship with Feliú, whom he says he admired for the great artist and Guevarian that he was. “You lack the confidence that Santiago has placed in your life to instigate an anemic and sterile attack against me for fun,” he said.

He also clarified that he had no reason to envy Descemer. “When your former colleagues are now your enemies and your former enemies, they see you crawling, begging for attention, truces and agreements … all (from right or left) look at you and see only one ephialtes of Thessaly,” concluded.

The controversy didn’t stop there, as Descemer responded to Rojas in another post on Facebook, calling him a traitor for “defending those who screwed up (the homeland) for so many years and still does.”

“Ephialtes of Thessaly is a god of Greek mythology who betrayed his homeland by helping his enemies win a battle and then had to flee. That is exactly what will happen to you, who is who is betrayed and helps in his homeland? the ones who have it her for so many years and continue to do so, ” he said.

“The reward that Efialtes was promised for the betrayal he never saw … As you will not see from those who defend today. They will not hesitate to turn against you the moment you stop acting as an instrument and spokesman. he added.

Descemer stated in his publication that he had left his country under duress of the dictatorship defending Israel. “But I carry my country with me and so today I raise my voice for those who have stayed and left,” he clarified.

“The one who will one day have to flee and hide is you, when those of us who fight manage to change the future of the land. And then you will have the same guilt as the God of mythology you mention,” he concluded.

The song Homeland and Life, premiered on February 17, has become something of an anthem for many Cubans who support a change in the repressive policies pursued by the island’s government for decades.

At the same time, official media outlets, public officials and members of civil society related to the government have strongly criticized the song and the musicians performing it.

Less than a week after its premiere, the song has been viewed almost two million times on YouTube.
