Iowa approaches 100,000 vaccinations completed, shows 17.7% daily positivity

Every day at 10 a.m. we take the previous day’s numbers from 10 a.m. and subtract them with the current state figures at 10 a.m. Instead of reporting a day behind, we want to give you the most current information. For Black Hawk and Linn Counties, we report numbers from their COVID-19 websites in the county. For Johnson and Dubuque counties, we report figures from the state website.

IOWA

(KWWL) – There were 841 new confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to the dashboard of the state, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 327,255.

The state’s website states that of 327,255 people who tested positive, 299,122 have recovered. These are 1,304 more recoveries than what the state reported on Monday.

The state’s death toll is 5,196, 22 more than yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (299,122) and the number of deaths (5,196) from the total number of cases (327,255), it appears that there are currently 22,937 active positive cases in the state.

As of Wednesday morning, there were 64 patients hospitalized in Iowa in the past 24 hours, and the total number of hospitalizations is 273, down from 292 hospitalized the day before. Of these, 64 are in the ICU (was 67) and 26 are on fans (was 27).

In Iowa, 4,725 new tests have been done in the past 24 hours and a total of 1,505,505 people have been tested for COVID-19. The positivity rate for the past 24 hours (841 positive tests divided by 4,725 tests given) is 17.7 percent.

According to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 366,109 total doses have been administered to residents of Iowa and 99,978 individuals completed the series. As of Wednesday, 3,062 residents of Black Hawk County, 7,098 residents of Linn County, 9,302 residents of Johnson County, and 5,699 residents of Dubuque County completed the vaccination series. BLACK HAWK COUNTY

The Dashboard Black Hawk COVID-19 shows 37 new cases since 10:00 AM Wednesday, with a total of 15,591 cases (14,635 PCR and antigen positive cases and 956 serology positive cases). There are 35 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 13,432. There was one more death, leaving a total of 271 deaths. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 6.7 percent.

LINN COUNTY

The Linn County COVID-19 Dashboard shows 37 new cases since 10 a.m. on Wednesday, making 19,007 cases in total. There are 54 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 16,759 recoveries. There were no additional deaths, resulting in a total of 312 deaths in the province. There are currently 23 patients hospitalized in the province. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 8 percent.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the the dashboard of the state at 10 a.m. Thursday, 17 new positive cases have been reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Wednesday. This brings the total to 12,755 reported cases. There have been a total of 11,818 recoveries, 46 more than yesterday. There was one more death, leaving a total of 67 deaths. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 7 percent.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the the dashboard of the state Thursday at 10 a.m., 25 more positive cases have been reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Wednesday. This brings the total to 12,063 reported cases. 30 additional recoveries have been reported, making a total of 11,091. No additional deaths were reported, leaving a total of 186. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 7 percent.
