Instagram is not available on Thursday afternoon at the time of writing. Facebook, which owns Instagram, is also experiencing a glitch, as is Messenger. All three services appear to have gone down around 5:30 p.m. ET, with no word as to the cause of the problem.
This is actually the second time in less than a month that Facebook and owned properties have experienced major outrage. For the time being WhatsApp is apparently still active, but we will keep a close eye on the status.
As you may have guessed, the topic is already trending on Twitter and Down Detector indicates that the services are struggling at the moment. Things don’t look good for the company, given that information for half a billion people was just dumped online for free from a previous Facebook hack.
