Indianapolis Police Respond to ‘Multiple Victim Situation’

(CNN) – According to Officer Genae Cook, a spokeswoman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, several people with gunshot wounds were taken to local hospitals after a shooting at a FedEx office in Indianapolis.

Police believe the attacker committed suicide and that “there is no active threat to the community at this time,” he said.

The police have not provided information on the seriousness of the injuries.

Previously, authorities said there was a “multi-victim situation” at the FedEx facility at 8951 Mirabel Road in Indianapolis.

The nearby major highway, I-70, was closed in both directions between I-465 and Ronald Reagan Parkway due to police activity, according to Indiana State Police director John Perrine. “Find alternative routes,” he tweeted.

In a statement, FedEx said it was aware of the “tragic shooting” at the Indianapolis facility.

“Safety is our top priority and our thoughts are with everyone involved. We are working to gather more information and we are working with the investigating authorities, ”said company spokesman Jim Masilak in an email to CNN.
