Indiana Hospital Under Fire Director For Says Black Doctor Died COVID-19 ‘Harassed’ Staff

Indiana University Health’s CEO is under fire for releasing a statement claiming that a black doctor who complained about receiving inadequate COVID-19 treatment before her death [had] intimidated ”her nursing team. Dr. Susan Moore posted a video to Facebook claiming that her white doctor made her “feel like a drug addict” because she had asked for more narcotics to deal with her pain. Moore then wrote on Facebook that the hospital provided her with adequate care and that she was discharged before succumbing to the virus in a separate hospital weeks later. “I don’t believe we have failed to meet the technicalities of delivering Dr. Moore’s care,” Dennis Murphy, CEO of Indiana University Health wrote in the statement. “I am concerned, however, that we may not have shown the level of compassion and respect that we strive to understand what is most important to patients.”
