In the sights biographical film about a Puerto Rican | Stage

Argentinian filmmaker Marcos Carnevale has not stopped working since November, when film activity was reactivated in his native country after the hiatus forced by the pandemic. His next shoot is a movie for Netflix, although he also plans to return to Puerto Rican soil to shoot a biopic.

In Argentina and under the Covid-19 protocol, he filmed a “very important” series for Disney + for four months.

“It was 16 intense weeks, but we adapted perfectly. On April 5th, I will start with a film produced by Netflix, with Guillermo Francella, a well-known actor. It will be released at the end of the year for sure. It’s a pretty big movie, ”said the director THE SPOKESMAN

Since the opening on Argentinian soil, they have been filming proposals for Netflix, Apple, Amazon and Disney +.

“There is a lot of demand for platforms that need a lot of content. It is difficult for us because there is too much work and sometimes technicians, artists, cameras and lights are missing because they are busy, ”said the filmmaker.

In addition, he is planning a new film production in Puerto Rico.

That would be his second shot on the island, because today the Puerto Rican film El Cuartito, which talks about freedom in an almost utopian way, will premiere in theaters. In it he directed the Spanish Mario de la Rosa (the paper house), the Argentina-based Puerto Rican Claribel Medina; the Mexican Ianis Guerrero (Club de Cuervos), the Puerto Rican Isel Rodríguez (Teatro Breve) and the Dominican Fausto Mata (Sanky Panky).

He also flirts with directing another version of Corazón de León in the Dominican Republic, which has been shot eleven times in different countries.

The small room is his movie number 13 and maintains the human theme that characterizes him, framed in the ‘dramedy’.

“In this case, it has to do with being Hispanic and the problems that this poses in light of a country like the United States, which by being Latino makes you suspect something. So that idea is compounded a bit by locking up five characters from the Latin world in the small room, with different problems and quirks, ”he explained.

The soundtrack fell to Eduardo Cabra and includes the song Somos, written by Sie7e and sung by Guaynaa.

Special participation from Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin also has a special collaboration.

“There is a story that Ricky Martin does, that is a text that I wrote, that is about something utopian. It’s a bit like John Lennon, that there should be no borders on the planet and that we are all the same, we are all human ”, he emphasized.

“I try to grow in every project, learn something new and do something different. I don’t like to repeat myself, I like to explore, to search again. Of course I don’t know if I’m trying to find a superior work, because you never know, ”Carnevale summed up his creative quest.

The room integrates supported subtitles in Spanish in all batches, for the benefit of the deaf community.
