Impossible 7 London Set – Deadline

Usually when stars yell at the crew on a movie set, it comes across as a diva twist. But Tom Cruise was caught on an audio tape released on the crew of the London set Mission: impossible 7, and it sounds like his anger is well placed.

London newspaper The sun posted audio – listen here – of a rant addressed to the crew after noting that there had been expiration of social distance protocols put in place to create one of the first blockbusters to resume production during the pandemic. In this case, Cruise, also the film’s producer, helped develop the protocols designed to get the film through production that spanned Italy to Norway and London. It’s a huge undertaking, and there were reports of Covid problems during the Italian leg of the shoot, which reportedly shut down the film for a few days.

Cruise told the crew that if the behavior is repeated, those caught would be fired. He is very emotional in getting the message across, telling the crew that the industry is in pain and most of the industry is closing, and people are losing their homes as a result.

It was a mission to bring this movie to a successful conclusion, it was a mission for Cruise, who was committed to getting back into production and who has used his time behind the scenes to advise other productions and studios on how to could also navigate dangerous times during the corona pandemic. As I said, it’s hard to object to the tone and content of his rant, because a careless Covid moment can put a production inoperative for two weeks, as happened in the Olivia Wilde-directed New Line movie Don’t worry honey, which is now back in production.
