Sen. Lee then confirmed he was standing by while Senator Tuberville and President Trump spoke on the phone. And during that call, Donald Trump reportedly asked Senator Tuberville to raise additional objections to the certification process, ”he continued.
Even before getting up to make his motion, Lee seemed visibly upset by the comments. He was spotted at his desk tearing a piece of paper from a notebook and writing, “This is not what happened.” He handed the newspaper to David Schoen, one of Trump’s attorneys.

When Leahy repeated himself, Lee jumped back in to claim they were not responding to his request to have statements by the House impeachment managers removed from the official file.
“That’s not my motion … What I asked was – statements were repeatedly attributed to me, of which I have personal knowledge because I am the source. They are not true,” Lee said.

Schumer intervened to clarify what was being voted on. Amid more confusion, he paused in the process “while we work this out.”

Lee seemed disaffected, however, and shot back, “You are not the one named as a witness, sir.”
