Health officials in Illinois reported 5,343 new cases of coronavirus and 130 additional deaths from the virus on Saturday.
According to the latest data from the Illinois Department of Public Health, Thursday’s new cases bring the total to 1,064,667 cases since the start of the pandemic, along with 18,179 deaths.
In the past 24 hours, 102,372 new test results were returned to state labs, IDPH said, bringing the statewide test total to 14,667,148.
The preliminary seven-day rolling statewide positivity rate on all tests performed dropped from 6.5% to 6.3%. The positivity rate in uniquely tested individuals also decreased from 7.7% to 7.5%.
Friday evening, 781,150 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were delivered statewide, with 268,525 doses of the vaccine allocated to pharmacies administered to long-term care facilities.
That brings the state’s total number of divided doses according to IDPH to 1,049,675. Of these, a total of 471,157 vaccines were administered, including 62,778 in long-term care facilities.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced that three state regions could roll back on Tier 3 mitigating measures Friday, with many close behind.
Pritzker is also pushing for more federal assistance in obtaining doses of two approved coronavirus vaccines, and is implementing plans to initiate Phase 1B of the state’s vaccination plan once a sufficient number of health and long-term rescuers and residents have received the shots.
