Illinois COVID update today: IL reports 3,866 new coronavirus cases, 21 deaths as Cook County releases more vaccine appointments

CHICAGO (WLS) – Public health officials in Illinois reported 3,866 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 21 related deaths Friday.

There have been a total of 1,296,381 COVID cases, including 21,630 deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic.

Thursday night, there were 2,058 patients in Illinois who were in the hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 468 were patients in the ICU and 205 patients with COVID-19 on ventilator.

In the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported testing 93,602 samples for a total of 21,571,023 since the start of the pandemic.

The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 9-15 is 4.9%.

A total of 9,777,825 doses of vaccine have been delivered to suppliers in Illinois, including Chicago.

In Illinois, a total of 7,779,290 vaccines were administered on Thursday evening. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 129,664 doses. 166,885 doses were reported administered in Illinois on Thursday.

10,000 COVID-19 vaccines will be available Friday

Cook County Health will release 10,000 first-dose COVID-19 vaccines Friday.

According to Cook County Health, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are available by appointment at noon on Fridays.

Appointments are available to anyone 16 and older, the agency said.

Sixteen and 17-year-olds must register with a Pfizer location and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, health officials said. The Pfizer vaccine is the only dose approved for anyone under the age of 18.

– Bureau County: 1 woman in her 80’s
– Cook County: 1 man in their 40s, 2 men in the 70s, 2 men in the 80s
– DuPage County; 1 woman 50s, 1 man 90s
– Henry County: 1 man in the 80’s, 1 woman in the 90’s

Jefferson County: 1 female 90’s
– Kane County: 1 man from the 70’s, 1 woman in the 90’s
– Lake County: 1 1970s woman, 1 1980s man
– LaSalle County: 1 male 70s
Madison County: 1 90s woman
McDonough County: 1 man in his 80s
– Tazewell County: 1 man in 40, 1 man in 50
– Will County: 1 male 1960s
