The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Jan. 20-26 is 5.6%.

The positivity rate of the test is a measure that the state began providing in late October. It is calculated by using the total number of positive tests over the total number of tests. This is the measure used by state health officials to make mitigation decisions.

A total of 1,253,300 doses of vaccine have been delivered to healthcare providers in Illinois, including Chicago, with an additional 537,050 doses assigned to federal government partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number delivered in Illinois to 1,790,350.

IDPH reports that a total of 773,623 vaccine doses have been administered, including 117,983 in long-term facilities. The seven-day moving average of vaccines administered is 33,698.

The IDPH says vaccine distribution numbers are reported in real time and vaccine delivery lags by as much as 72 hours.

Wednesday morning, Governor JB Pritzker visited a mass vaccination site at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake.

“This site is built not only to meet the current limited supply needed, but also to grow as more and more doses come in from the federal government,” said Governor Pritzker.

With Illinois in Stage 1B, people over 65 and many key workers are now eligible for the vaccine. That includes about another 3.2 million people.

The Illinois National Guard will assist with vaccinations at Cook County Health Centers in half a dozen suburbs. More deployments are planned statewide.

Officials said that starting Monday those guard-backed sites will be adopting 1B appointments, as will pharmacies at hundreds of Walgreens, CVS and Jewel locations.

Walgreens is delivering vaccines at 92 locations across the state and arrangements can be made on their website, while Jewel-Osco begins vaccinating eligible residents on Tuesday, with arrangements available on their website.

Governor JB Pritzker said there are plans to launch walk-in sites as soon as vaccine supply increases.

Monday, Governor Pritzker and Chairman of the Cook County Board, Toni Preckwinkle, visited the Tinley Park Convention Center, which is preparing to become a mass vaccination site.

Governor Pritzker announced the creation of a new portal, coronavirus.illinois.gov, to provide the latest information on vaccines.

“Today, we are launching the latest phase of our vaccine administration plan for frontline workers and people over 65. I am proud to announce our nationwide vaccination location, searchable by zip code and city, at coronavirus.illinois.gov,” said Governor JB Pritzker. This site will serve as a hub for all vaccine-related information, directing residents to the appointment booking home pages of our 97 local health departments and our pharmacy partners, which will be in hundreds of locations statewide. That also includes information on our first Illinois National Guard mass vaccination site, opening tomorrow at the Tinley Park Convention Center, and will be updated as more state-run sites and hundreds of additional local options come online. Since federal supply is currently limited and every state in the country is in deficit, I would urge all eligible Illinois residents to regularly check back on available appointments – while masking, keeping their distance, washing hands and remember that we will stay healthy and safe if we look after each other. “
