Earlier this week, Tesla Inc added “Technoking of Tesla” to its eccentric chef’s list of official titles in a regulatory filing that also called Chief Financial Officer Zachary Kirkhorn “Master of Coin.”
The electric carmaker did not explain the reasons for the cryptic new titles.
Mr. Musk also shared a new electronic music track on a non-replaceable token, or NFT – a new type of digital asset verified by blockchain.
“I’m selling this song on NFTs as an NFT,” he said in a tweet showing a video of what looked like a gold trophy adorned with coins and dog figures accompanied by pulsating techno music.
The popularity of NFTs exploded during the pandemic as enthusiasts and investors rush to spend huge sums of money on items that only exist online.
Last month, musician and recording artist Grimes, who is dating Mr Musk, sold some of the animations she created on a website called Nifty Gateway for over $ 6 million.
Mr Musk’s recent promotion of dogecoin on Twitter has also increased the price of that cryptocurrency.
Last month, Tesla revealed that it had bought $ 1.5 billion worth of bitcoin and would soon accept it as a form of payment for cars, soaring the price of the world’s most popular cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin hit new highs of nearly $ 62,000 over the weekend, but retreated around 5% on Monday at the start of European Day.
In another statement, Tesla said Automotive President Jerome Guillen had transitioned to the role of Tesla Heavy Trucking President to lead Tesla’s entry into “the critical heavy truck market for the first time.”
Tesla said in January that it will begin delivery of its long-delayed Tesla Semi trucks in 2021.
