‘I don’t care if it’s a man or a woman’: Susan Sarandon reveals she’s open to dating with both sexes

Susan Sarandon is open to dating ‘a man or a woman’ – as long as they are vaccinated against Covid.

The actress, 74, said she ‘doesn’t care’ when it comes to future relationships and that she’s ‘open to all ages, all colors’.

In Caroline Stanbury’s Divorce Not Dead podcast, she explained that her first requirement for a partner is, “Someone vaccinated against Covid.”

She added: ‘I don’t care if it’s a man or a woman. I mean I’m open to all ages, all colors. And those things are just details to me. But what I’m interested in is someone who wants to be adventurous. ‘

The mother-of-three also made it clear that profession is not important either, although her future partner must be “passionate about what they do.”

“They can be a teacher, or they can be a writer, or they can be successful or unsuccessful,” she clarified.

But when it comes to Susan’s international fame, any potential suitor shouldn’t be surprised.

The Oscar-winning actress added: ‘Someone who won’t be intimidated by people coming [me] on the street and said “Oh my God I love you”. ‘

Susan isn’t in a rush to find love and insists she’s content with being single, going so far as to say she’s ‘getting rid of’ being alone.

She said, “I kind of like being alone.

‘I think I’m pretty open to the idea of being with someone, but you know, it would definitely take someone extraordinarily to share my medicine cabinet right now. I think those days are over. ‘

The movie legend also made rare remarks about her only husband, Chris Sarandon, 78, who she tied the knot with to avoid being expelled from their Catholic university.

She also shared how her 21-year relationship with Tim Robbins, 62, fell apart and why she had to split with ‘jealous’ Jonathan Bricklin, 43.

Susan Tomalin was a 17-year-old at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC when she met Chris, who was a graduate student at the time.

She explained, “So every year we would decide if we wanted to stay married and after seven years we decided to move on together.

How many people can really stay married for a lifetime to the first person they sleep with? And that would be quite an achievement, wouldn’t it? ‘

They married in 1967 and finally divorced in 1979, but Susan kept his last name and developed an acting career that far overshadowed his.

Although she had several long-term relationships – including with Franco Amurri and Tim Robbins, the fathers of her children – she never remarried.

As for shorter relationships, her dating history includes famous names ranging from Sean Penn to David Bowie to Louis Malle.

She spent four years with Franco in the 1980s, to whom she welcomed her eldest child and only daughter Eva Amurri, 35.

Then she was involved with Tim from 1988 to 2009, whom she met while working on the baseball movie Bull Durham and then started dating.

They also welcomed two children together, director Jack, 31, and musician and actor Miles, 28.

“I was just always afraid to take each other for granted because you’re married, you know, wake up in the morning and have to start over,” she said of her relationship with Tim.

“ But of course, after a while in a relationship, when you’ve got a bunch of kids and a bunch of real estate and you’ve been together for twenty years, I mean it’s hard not to take each other for granted, ” said Susan, who was with Tim for 21 years.

Susan also said of the marriage, “I don’t know, it was just to me that I wasn’t interested in it. I do not know why. My parents were married. It wasn’t a big deal. ‘

Over the years, she has had a fondness for younger men, including Franco and Tim who, as she pointed out, were both 12 years younger than her.

However, her biggest age difference was with screenwriter Jonathan Bricklin, who is 31 years younger than Susan and the son of famed businessman Malcolm Bricklin.

Susan confessed that “one of the problems with finding guys in my age group is that so many of them are just trying to keep the status quo at this point and hold on for life, and they’re not open and curious.”

She and Jonathan were together from 2010 to 2015, during which time ‘he was very jealous, really jealous’ of her relationship with her sons, Susan claimed.

And I think it was partly because he wasn’t close to his mother. And he seen it drive him crazy. He was absolutely jealous, ”she claimed.

She later admitted that in relationships generally, ‘I’m so over-concerned, this is the problem. I do too much! And so, you know, who wants to fuck their mom after a while? No, I have to learn to withdraw and not do everything. ‘

Looking back on her life, she said, “I wish I had made my mistakes faster. They were all very productive choices in terms of lessons learned. ‘

After working so consistently all her life, whether as an actress or as a mother, she also revealed that ‘I wish I had had a little more fun, frankly.’
