“I believe the Constitutional Chamber has acted diligently,” Magistrate Wellman says of Araujo’s candidacy | News from El Salvador

Magistrate Wellman said they will now send the agreement to print San Salvador ballots, the only ones still pending.

“I believe that the Constitutional Chamber has acted diligently (Walter Araujo’s candidacy), now we have a collegiate and we will send the agreement so that the ballots are already printed, with this resolution the question of printing the ballots of San Salvador dissolved, “affirmed magistrate of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Guillermo Wellman.

Judge Wellman believed that the normal course of business in the chamber is due to concerns raised by presiding judge Dora Esmeralda Escobar and judge Noel Orellana on Tuesday about the delay in printing if the chamber does not provide an immediate resolution.

He also stated that he found it interesting that the Chamber made a decision at a time when it deserves, “the reality that this is a normal faculty of the Chamber as the greatest interpreter of the constitution has a duty to discard habeas corpus, unconstitutions. and amparos, I don’t see anything out of the ordinary in this kind of resolution, which is interesting that the House made a decision at a time that it deserves, because we have a priority which is February 28, otherwise this would not have been defined because we have fallen to the problem of delaying ballot printing ”.

Wellman recalled in a televised interview on this day that his position was always that there was no legality in the registration of Araujo, in this regard he said: “It was quite questioned, at the time of the vote there were 3 votes in favor and 2 against, it was that of Dr. Olivo and that of his servant, firstly because of the way it was chosen, secondly because of the background in which this non-registration was attacked ”.

The Magistrate stressed the importance of the New Ideas Party to replace the candidate as soon as possible. “An agreement must be reached in which, on behalf of the House, we will inform the New Ideas party to make the replacement as soon as possible.

Responding to New Ideas’ statements yesterday through a statement stating that a lawsuit is pending against a candidate of the ARENA party, Wellman replied, “There is no lawsuit against another candidate, there was only that one.”
