Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity is officially the best-selling Musou game ever

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity had a pretty good launch for the most part. While sales for Koei Tecmo’s hack-and-slash series aren’t usually brilliant, its status as a Breath of the wilderness prequel undeniably upped it.

Within a week of launch, Age Of Calamity had already sold an impressive 3 million copies within a week. Koei Tecmo, as outlined in their latest financial report, has now revealed that it shipped 3.5 million copies worldwide at the end of December.

That makes it the best-selling Musou game of all time, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be one of Nintendo’s evergreen titles like Breath of the Wild. Clearly, sales are down significantly after that initial launch period.

Koei Tecmo stepped down from Age of Calamity and also confirmed sales for additional games. While none of them came close to their latest Musou game, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy had reached 220,000 units in Asia while Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV’s reissue came in at a respectable 100,000 units.
