Cuban musician Hugo Antonio Morejón Gómez, trombonist with the popular orchestra Los Van Van, died this Saturday in Havana at the age of 64 from a heart attack.

Morejón had been in Los Van Van since 1984, after going through other popular music groups such as Pacho Alonso and Adalberto Álvarez and the rock group Los Dada.

Born April 20, 1956 in the Cuban capital, he was also a keyboardist and arranger.

At the age of seven Morejón Gómez moved to Matanzas, where he received lessons from Rafael Somavilla. In 1970 he returned to Havana to study at the National School of Art (ENA). There he trained for six years until his professional life took off.

On social networks, friends and followers have expressed their pain over his sudden death and condolences to his family, especially his widow, Eloisa María Lipuzcua Verdecia.

In recent times, Los Van Van has suffered the loss of people closely related to the orchestra.
