Hugh Bonneville has revealed that he has had a Covid vaccine when he shared photos of himself on Instagram receiving the shot.

The 57-year-old Downton Abbey star took to social media on Friday to post snaps of himself at Memorial Hall, Midhurst, West Sussex, where he volunteers with the Midhurst Pharmacy team after joining in March 2020.

Hugh wrote, “Midhurst’s Riverbank Medical Center started vaccinating last week. Today Midhurst Pharmacy, led by Raj Rohilla, joined the rollout in North West Sussex. ‘

He then shared a group photo with others working at the center, each wearing masks, adding: ‘With former nurse Jo Wiltshire (left), Raj and retired GPs Andrew Douglas & Madelaine Litchfield (who gave me my AstraZeneca shot ).

As he finished his post, Hugh shared a cheery photo of himself in a bright yellow vest and hat doing a double thumbs up.

He wrote: “I loved being part of the support team as a volunteer marshall. I can wear hi viz and stuff. ‘

Hugh joins other celebrities to get the vaccine, including Sir David Attenborough, 94, Sir Ian McKellen, 81, and Great British Bake Off Judge Prue Leith, 80.

Michael Eavis, 85, Lionel Blair, 92, and Marty Wilde, 81, are among the other stars who have announced they’ve had the coronavirus shot.

Sir Tom Jones has also got his dose, telling Jools Holland’s annual Hootenanny show, “That’s a good thing to being 80, you’re first in line for the shot.”

After receiving the vaccine at the Arts Research Center, Queen Mary University Hospital in December, Sir Ian McKellen said, “It’s a very special day, I feel euphoric!”

He continued: “Anyone who has lived as long as I have is living because they have had previous vaccinations.

‘The uptake among the older generation will be 100 percent – it should be – because you have it not only for yourself, but also for people you are close to – you are doing your part in society.’
