Huge ‘fireball’ falls from the sky and crashes into the Horizon in China, watch viral video

A massive fireball was seen falling from the sky and crashing into the city of Yushu in northwest China on Wednesday. In a video of the incident shared on YouTube, a giant fireball can flash through the sky and illuminate the dark skies over southern China.

In multiple images captured by locals, a fireball, believed to be a meteor, illuminates the sky and plunges into Nanggian County, Qinghai Province in northwest China. Locals have reportedly heard loud bangs and the incident is said to have occurred at 7am on December 23.

According to a report by Daily mail, it is not yet clear what the blazing orb is, but local media suggests the unidentified object could be a bright meteor. Some experts also suggest the object was a bolide, an extremely bright meteor. Lead author of the Chinese science website Guokr, Yu Jun, said during a conversation with the media that it looked like a car. It could also be that several meteorite fragments have fallen somewhere in the area.

Fortunately, no causalities have been reported.

According to NASA, more than 50,000 meteorites have been found on Earth as of December 19. Meteorites often fly past Earth, but it is rare to see one fall to the surface.
