Howie Roseman says Eagles have ‘right people’ in place to hit 6th pick in NFL Draft – CBS Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles season is officially over. For many fans, this day could not come soon enough. But now we are left with questions and scratching our heads.

The organization is at a crossroads with the current decision-making structure.

It feels like if they can’t get this thing right in 2021, changes could come.

In a game where many questioned the integrity of a quarterback decision, Doug Pederson doubled down.

‘Nate [Sudfeld] is a man who is very capable of running and running our system and has the ability to finish that game last night, ”Pederson said Monday.

Sudfeld’s uninspired 5 of 12 passes for 32 yards and a pick made the sixth overall roster for a franchise that has only selected one Pro Bowler since 2014 – Carson Wentz, the current backup quarterback.

“It’s something that we have to get to the sixth choice in the design in a huge, massive way. I think we have the right people to do that, ”said GM Howie Roseman.

Roseman is now in the hot seat. The Eagles have relapsed every season since the Super Bowl in 2017, with Roseman admitting that this roster is clearly not what it once was.

“I’m going to do everything that is in the best interest of this team to make this team another eternal playoff team. I’m not worried about my job. That does not concern me, it is not in my hands. I’m concerned about the best and right thing for this team to come back to, ”said Roseman.

A scrubbing of the organization is in order, he says, to look for better ways to do things to improve a 4-11-1 campaign. And perhaps in a statement of self-preservation, Roseman pointed to the Eagles’ track record since Pederson arrived.

“Just because you’re having a bad time doesn’t mean you’re not good at your job or that you’re on a bad process,” Roseman said.

Roseman also said they have no internal discussions about the Carson Wentz trade. But the pressure to sort out this situation will be unrelenting.
