The funeral for Prince Philip, WHO died on April 9 at the age of 99, is held on Saturday, April 17 at St. George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said last week that the funeral “largely reflects the duke’s wishes.”
“While this is a time of grief and mourning, the coming days will be an opportunity to celebrate a remarkable life,” said Buckingham Palace spokesman.
Philip, who held the title of Duke of Edinburgh, was married to queen elizabeth Longest-serving partner in British history for 73 years. He will be buried in the Royal Vault in St. George’s Chapel.

The funeral procession begins at 2:40 PM BST or 9:40 PM ET. His chest, flanked by eight carriers, will be placed in a modified Land Rover – which Philip helped design – and moved from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel. Members of the armed forces will guard the route and fire salutes during the procession.
Members of the royal family are walking behind the coffin, although Buckingham Palace said on Thursday that Princes William and Harry will not walk side by side. Their cousin, Peter Phillips, will walk between them.
In a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this month, Harry said that although he and William had “gone through hell together,” they were on “different paths.”
The queen arrives separately.
The funeral begins at 3 p.m. BST or 10 a.m. ET and is televised all the time. It will not be a state funeral, but rather a ceremonial royal funeral, similar to what was held for the Queen Mother in 2002 and Princess Diana in 1997.
Under UK COVID-19 restrictions, only 30 will be present at the funeral. The funeral guest list is limited to the four children of Queen Elizabeth and Philip, eight grandchildren, their husbands, the children of the late Princess Margaret and several members of Philip’s Greek and German family.

Harry, who is isolating in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor grounds, released a statement praising his late grandfather as ‘a man of service, honor and great humor’, of whom he said he was the first for him and above all “grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of chatter and cheek to the end.”
“He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room because of his charm – and also because you never knew what he would say next,” Harry said, adding, “Meghan, Archie and me. (as well as your future great-granddaughter) will always have a special place for you in our hearts. ”
