How to stream PS5 and Xbox Series X / S games to all your devices

Is there anyone else in your household taking up the big screen TV? Want to game in another room without lugging your console? If you managed to get it a PlayStation 5, a Xbox series X, or a Xbox series S., you can stream games from these consoles to other devices on the same Wi-Fi network.

While you don’t need a particularly fast Wi-Fi signal flying around your house for this, you do need a stable signal to get the best results. If you can, consider connecting your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X / S directly to your router via an Ethernet cable. It will also help turn off other devices over Wi-Fi. Here’s how to stream locally

PlayStation 5

Sony offers an official feature to let you flow of the PS5 to Others called devices Play remotely. Before you start, you must have the feature on your comfort. Open it System menu from Settings, then choose Play remotely and set the Enable Remote Play toggle switch. Then go to Power saving and Functions available in rest mode, and makcertainly Stay connected to the internet and Turn on Enable PS5 over network are enabled, which means you can still activate the console from another device.

With those settings sorted, you now need those from Sony Play remotely app for the operating system of your choice. It works on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, so you can’to any phone, tablet, laptop or desktop with one of these operating systems installed, as long as you are on the same local Wi-Fi network as your real PlayStation 5.

For Windows and macOS, you’ll also need a DualSense or DualShock controller to use with your device of choice, so you’ll need to buy an extra or borrow one from your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 console. In the case of Windows computers, the controller must be connected directly via USB, but Macs can use controllers via Bluetooth or via a direct connection (choose Bluetooth of System Preferences to pair a controller wirelessly).

On mobile you can connect a PS controller for your gaming (recommended) or try using your phone touch controls on the screen (not recommended). Controllers can be linked on Android by choosing Connected devices in Settings and on iOS by choosing Bluetooth in Settings.

Whichever device you install the Remote Play app on, you will be prompted to sign in to your PSN account. The program should be able to automatically detect the PlayStation 5 on your local network, assuming you’ve configured it correctly, and after a few seconds, the PS5 screen will appear in the Remote Play software. You can take over with the PlayStation controller and control the PS5 as if you were sitting in front of it.

Then click on the gear icon on the opening screen Video quality for remote play to set the quality at which the PS5 streams video to your computer or mobile device. Reducing this quality can help if you are having trouble getting a stable connection. Other options are available while streaming on the mobile apps, such as whether or not to always display the controller on the screen.

Xbox series X / S

Microsoft has yet to enable local streaming from an Xbox Series X or Series S console to a Windows computer – which is kind of odd considering it’s so easy on the older Xbox One consoles. The functionality is in development but not live at the time of writing, and while rumors of an update are gaining momentum, there is no indication of a release date at this time.

It’s the same story for streaming a new Xbox console to a Mac computer for now. This was not supported natively on the Xbox One X and Xbox One S, but you could use a third-party tool such as OneCast to get the job done – this approach won’t work on the Xbox Series X and Series S for now.

Until support for local streaming to computers arrives fully formed and fully functional from Microsoft, you should be content with streaming to phones and tablets. On your Xbox, open Settings and select Devices and connections and External functionsand switch it on Enable external functions option.

Next, you need the official Xbox app for Android or iOSOnce you go through the first sign,in the setup process, tap the connect button in the top right corner (left of the bell icon) then Set up a console and follow the on-screen instructions (unless you’ve gone through this process before).

In the Xbox app, you can then tap the library button (second from bottom left) then Consoles Choose your Xbox and then choose Remote play on this deviceAssuming your Xbox is turned on and online, you will be connected after a few seconds and you should see your Xbox screen appear on your phone or tablet.

You will also need to connect a gamepad of your choice to your mobile device to really bypass the Xbox interface. The official Xbox controllers will do just fine, or you can choose from one of the thirdparty alternatives that work with your phone or tablet. Bluetooth accessories can be added via Connected devices in Settings on Android, or via Bluetooth in Settings on iOS.
