Once you become familiar with the basics of Monster Hunter Risethe real game of carving out rare materials for high-end equipment can finally begin. While you normally have to wait through a cutscene every time they complete a mission, a simple trick allows players to skip this short vignette, reducing downtime between yachts.

I was pointed out to this trick by a competitor of the game Zerpin, but the secret quickly spread within the Monster Hunter community after Rise‘s release on March 26. The technique involves hanging in the air with the game’s new Wirebug mechanic as the quest draws to a close, making it bypass the post-mission cutscene for some reason.

In the video above, I show how quests typically end and then demonstrate the easiest way to use the Wirebug trick. While in the air – by jumping from a height or flying in the air with ZL + X – pressing the A button will hover your hunter above the ground for a few seconds. Fortunately, this window is quite generous, so it should be easy to take advantage of it even after quests that end with a countdown, as long as you limit timing.

People on the Monster Hunter subreddit has noted that the movie cannot be played also in other situations, such as when the player runs into a wall, is toppled by an explosion or is paralyzed and sleeps.

Monster Hunter Rise is a fun new addition to the long-running franchise, and this trick should make it even more fun for those experimenting with end-game equipment. On the other hand, some of the cutscenes that end the mission involve bonding with your companions – cat and dog species known as Felynes and Canynes respectively – so maybe don’t neglect them every time you complete a quest .
