The Microsoft Edge homepage leaves something to be desired. You cannot edit it or delete the news section. Replacing them is also not easy. Here are the steps to replace the Microsoft Edge homepage with something better.

If you’re moving from Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge, you may be used to the wonderful world of home page extensions. Home extensions range from simple and beautiful (like Momentum) to highly customizable and feature rich (like ProductivityTab).

While you can use Chrome extensions natively in Microsoft Edge (it’s built on Chromium, after all), the process of installing and setting a Chrome extension as your homepage is unnecessarily complicated.

But don’t be discouraged. There is an easier way to replace the Microsoft Edge home page.

First, open the Chrome extension list for the homepage you want to install. For this example, we are going with the simple and beautiful Momentum extension.

Click on the “Add to Chrome” button here.

In the pop-up message, choose the option “Add extension”.

Once the extension is installed, you will see a popup stating that Edge has disabled the extension because it tried to change the home page. You now need to enable it manually.

To do this, click on the three-dot menu button in the toolbar and choose the “Extensions” option.

Here, click on the switch next to the “Momentum” extension.

The extension will be enabled and your homepage will be changed. You will see it opening in a new tab. Microsoft Edge will still ask if you are sure you want to keep this homepage. Click the “Keep Changes” button or ignore the popup.

And that’s it. You have now changed the homepage to something different and better.

You can now customize the home page. The next time you open Edge or switch to a new tab, you’ll be greeted by the extension’s new home page.

If you ever want to switch home pages, you can install a different home page extension to make it the new default. If you want to go back to the default home page, just disable or remove the extension.

From the main Microsoft Edge screen, click the three-dot menu button in the top right corner and choose the “Extension” option. Find the homepage extension that you have installed and enabled here. Select the switch to turn it off. To remove the extension, click on the “Remove” button.

Want to stick with the Microsoft Edge home page for now? You can customize the home page to remove most distractions and hide the news section so that it isn’t visible without scrolling.
