Destiny 2
OBKatieKat
Well, a new exploit is circulating in Destiny 2, and it’s time to try it out before patching. Before you start yelling at me for talking about it, I’m sure Bungie is good already aware of this (lots of big streamers have done this), so a fix is probably on the way. But until then, it’s time to have fun.
What is happening? The way this works is that you can have:
- 7-12 person fireteams on raids.
- 4-9 person firesteams in dungeons and Nightfalls.
I believe this was discovered a week or two ago, but it only seems to be making the rounds now. How do you do it? Here’s Cheese Forever talking about the tactic if you want to see a video about it, but I’ll explain below,
Basically, you need a fireteam to join another at zero seconds when an activity is started. This is easiest to do on a PC with membership codes and all you need to do is set the timing. For example, for a 12-person raid, you would need to have a fireteam of six joining another fireteam of six with a single invite, which, if timed correctly, will pull the completely separate group of six into the raid for a total of 12 .
The same goes for Nightfalls and dungeons, only the cap there is 9, as you can only start this one with a team of three. And of course this can be done by less players if you just want a fourth person to play it or something. Again, it’s just about timing. This can work on the console, it’s just harder to time and run due to the lack of membership codes, but you can accept or join invites from the roster there. You want to time it so that you participate a little bit before the activity starts because it takes time to join if you are trying to hit that “join zero” mark. If you have an abundance of people in a job, you are too early. If you cannot start the activity, you are too late.
This tactic obviously makes all these activities cake, but it is not like the current raids Which hard to start with so I don’t think this does much harm. It’s not like it’s breaking a raid race or people exploiting GM Nightfalls for insane rewards. That said, I don’t expect this ability to stick around forever, so if you want to try it for yourself, you’re probably better off trying it pretty soon before a hotfix goes live.
So yes, just fun to experiment with. I’d love to see Destiny increase its player count and fireteam in the future as I envision things like loading 12 people for an Altars of Sorrow or (non-vaulted) Escalation Protocol public event, or of course, Bungie designing a raid which is intended to be primarily for 12 people. I don’t think this is likely to happen, but if not, we can just see how that could go with this exploit (spoiler: it’s insane). To enjoy.
