Google Maps’ in-app parking payments are now rolling out to Android users and will appear on iOS in the near future. At launch, more than 400 US cities will accept Google Pay parking payments, including Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Washington DC
When it comes to buying bus and train tickets, Google says more than 80 public transit companies worldwide will accept rates in Google Maps in the coming weeks.
How to pay for parking in Google Maps
- Use Google Maps to navigate to your destination.
- A “Pay for parking” button will appear as you approach the end of your journey. Find a parking space and tap the button to start the payment process.
- Enter your parking meter number and how much time you pay for.
- Crane “Pay” to complete the transaction with Google Pay.
How to buy the public transport fare in Google Maps
- Plan your trip in Google Maps with the Public transport option.
- If you can pay in Google Maps, you will see a Google Pay icon next to a route. Select the route and tap “Pay.”
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the payment.
- Depending on where you live and the mode of transport, you pay your fare in the app and receive a digital ticket to show drivers and transit officers, tap a fare box with your phone to pay, or add money to digital cards in cities like San Francisco.
