How to ditch WhatsApp for good

WhatsApp has been the de facto messaging app in countries around the world for years. But recently there was some news about the company extremely shady changes to the privacy policy has prompted many to switch to another service. After all, there are tons of choices, most of which are not owned by Facebook.

You can easily drop WhatsApp and save your old messages if you decide you have had enough.

Before deleting your account, you want to export your chats. Fortunately, that is simple. Just tap on the name of the thread you want to save at the top and scroll down to Export chat. You can choose to save all photos and videos in the thread as well.

Now it is time to request all your account information. Tap on Settings in the lower right corner of the app. Then tap Account and Request account information. WhatsApp says it will take about three days to receive your notification, but the company will notify you when it’s ready.
