How to Create and Share Your Instagram Top 9 Posts of 2020

In this digital age, the end of the year remains an excellent time to think – only now can we get virtual help to help us remember the best parts of the past 12 months.

The Instagram Top 9 is arguably the best-known year-end tradition, where people use technology to see which of their Instagram posts got the most likes in the past year and then share that data in grid form.

While the practice of publishing screenshots of reports on someone’s Insta profile is an old-fashioned practice of ‘the old days’, as Mashable puts it, in the last days of the more recent years a lot has still been posted on Instagram Stories.

Do you want to know how to create your own Top 9? Here’s how to make it happen before we hit the New Year.

Choose between Top Nine and Best Nine

Both free sites are solely for identifying and formatting your most popular posts. Top Nine is available as both a website and an app, with the latter not requiring an email address. Best Nine – which is only usable for public accounts – is just a site and it runs significantly slower. (“Please note that it will now take about 10 minutes to complete your request due to massive demand,” the site warns.)

Type your handle and wait

Just type it in and submit when prompted on either site.

Save and share

Top Nine offers a “Save & Share” button to easily post the grid-based report on your Instagram story. For those who prefer to upload it manually, just save the image or take a screenshot on your phone’s camera roll, then open Instagram and upload the image to a story.

Voila! While 2020 was probably not the most photogenic year to remember for many, we made it and it’s nonetheless worth remembering the highlights (and perhaps leaving the lowlights behind).
