How much money will the parties receive this year after the JCE’s order?

The general budget for this year 2021 foresaw an item of RD $ 1,260,400,000 to be distributed among the parties making up the country’s electoral system.

According to the JCE regulation 01-2021, released on Wednesday evening, only the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) parties, which came first with 44.95%, and the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), with 32.30 %, voted majority.

According to that resolution, the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) Party reached 4.54% and the Dominican Revolutionary Parties (PRD) 3.57%; Christian Social Reformist (PRSC), 2.96%; Alianza País (Alpaís), 1.37%, and Dominicanos por el Cambio (DXC), 1.04%, making them a minority, like the other fractions.

The other 18 batches reached between 0.19% and 0.85%.

In accordance with Article 61 of Law 33-18, on political parties, groups and movements, the economic contribution will be made as follows: eighty percent (80%), divided equally among the parties that have reached more than five percent (5% ) of the valid votes cast in the last election.

Twelve percent (12%) divided among all parties that achieved more than one percent (1%) and less than five percent (5%) of the valid votes cast in the last election. Eight percent (8%), divided among the parties that have reached between zero point zero one percent (0.01%) and one percent (1%) of the valid votes obtained in the last election.

According to the law, the parties who have achieved more than one percent receive the following amount.

Since PRM and PLD were the only two to achieve more than 5 percent, they would each receive an amount of RD $ 504,160,000. That is, between the two it would be RD $ 1,008,320,000

While the FP, PRD, PRSC, Alpais and DXC, which reached more than 1% in last year’s election, would get RD30,249,600.
