Twenty-eight of the 42 ranges that fall within the country’s basic table of medicines are guaranteed by the ten farms in Ciego de Ávila that pay for the natural and traditional medicine program, informed Imayasil Ulloa Trujillo, medicinal plant specialist of the provincial delegation. of agriculture in that territory.

Milagro Barrios González, Labiofam’s director of research, development and innovation in Ciego de Ávila, told the Cuban news agency that her entity supports the basic table of drugs with several preparations, including antihypertensive, cardio-circulatory, digestive, antispasmodic, anti-asthmatic and spectorant , which are made from natural plants.

Such preparations are made in the form of tea, which includes sacred sugar cane, guava, oregano, kidney tea, chamomile and sage, Barrios González said.

The natural and traditional medicine program in Ciego de Ávila guarantees sufficient plant mass to prepare these medicines, which are used in the treatment of many diseases and are still an option in the absence of medicines.

By 2021, the Farmacia y Óptica and Labiofam companies are demanding a higher amount of plant mass, including aloe, majagua, oregano, onion, wall, linden, passion flower, guava, sweet orange, mangrove and chamomile, with the aim of anti-catarrhal preparations and syrups.

The Labiofam Company, in Ciego de Ávila, is also researching a wide variety of products based on medicinal plants to meet the demands of agriculture and veterinary and human medicine in the country.
