One of the biggest stories in this off-season was Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson’s status as a possible option – though unrealistic – at quarterback for the Chicago Bears.
Wilson named the Bears, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys the four teams he would agree to – should that materialize.
Wilson’s shortlist has just gotten shorter.
On Monday, the Cowboys signed quarterback Dak Prescott for a four-year $ 160 million deal, effectively putting them out of the running of the Wilson sweepstakes.
That leaves the Bears, Saints and Raiders as the last three teams in the running.
It all comes down to whether the Seahawks are willing to trade Wilson, which they insist they are not. Although they have handled calls from other teams.
It’s hard to deny how much Chicago has been linked to Wilson in recent weeks, other than being mentioned in reference to the four teams. Reports of Wilson looking to flip the Bears ‘historic franchise and Wilson liking the Bears’ emerging offensive line, Matt Nagy and the Chicago market have made it hard to ignore.
Given that the jobs of Nagy and General Manager Ryan Pace depend on this team’s success in 2021, it’s no big surprise to learn that they may be the most desperate team looking for an off-season quarterback.
The only thing that has become clear off-season is that if Wilson is traded, it is most likely the Bears who will land him.
