Broward Health announced it will start giving the COVID-19 vaccine to certain members of the public starting Wednesday – before later saying they will be packed with appointments in February.
Patients must meet the following criteria:
- People aged 65 and over
- Office workers from Broward Health licensed physicians
- Emergency medical personnel
- Unrecognized community health care providers who do not have access to the vaccine, as well as their office workers
Vaccines are also available to all Broward Health employees and licensed medical personnel at Broward Health hospitals.
Eligible community members must call Broward Health’s Nurse Connect line at 954-759-7500 make an appointment.
“We are committed to increasing capacity and fully restoring service,” officials said in a statement. “We apologize for the inconvenience as we try to meet the needs of our community.”

Registered medical staff members should call their regional medical staff office to schedule an appointment.
The Broward County Department of Health announced Wednesday that it would start giving vaccinations to residents 65 and older starting Sunday. Residents can register for an appointment by clicking this link, but are advised that the number of appointments is currently limited.
“We welcome the opportunity to begin vaccinating our elderly population, disproportionately affected by COVID-19, as we continue to work every day to protect our community during this pandemic.” said Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Florida Department of Health in Broward County.
Broward Health aims to vaccinate 15-20 people per hour, which equates to approximately 150 people per day.
“This is monumental and marks a milestone in this pandemic of offering the vaccine to our citizens who meet the criteria,” said Dr. Aldo Calvo, Medical Director of Outpatient Services.
Cleveland Clinic and Jackson Health System have announced that they will be rolling out vaccines to certain members of the public.
Cleveland Clinic announced they would also give vaccines to members of the public who meet certain criteria, including being 65 or older, as well as first responders and those with high-risk medical conditions. Call for more information about scheduling an appointment 954-659-5950.
Jackson Health in Miami-Dade announced they would start giving the vaccine to members of the public ages 65 and older starting this week, before releasing an online platform next week for residents to request an appointment.
