Homeowners in Bexar County affected by a winter storm can now apply for Federal Disaster Assistance

Homeowners and residents of Bexar County in 77 other designated counties affected by this week’s devastating winter storm can now request federal assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

This comes after President Joe Biden partially approved Governor Abbott’s request for a major disaster declaration. The approval was announced on Saturday afternoon.

According to officials, if you have insurance and are applying for disaster relief, you should also file a claim with your insurance company as soon as possible.

By law, FEMA is not allowed to duplicate the benefits for insurance-covered losses. If the insurance doesn’t cover all of your damage, you may be eligible for federal assistance.
