The emerging open world of WB Games Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy has been delayed to 2022. Originally it was scheduled for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X./S, and PC sometime this year.

“Creating the best possible experience for all Wizarding World and game fans is of the utmost importance to us, so we give the game the time it needs,” says one official statement is reading.

Hogwarts Legacy was first announced last September as the next project of Disney Infinity developer Avalanche Software. Set in the wizarding world of the 19th century, it gives players the chance to guide a Hogwarts student through an original story long before Mr. Potter made the scene.

Months earlier Hogwarts Legacy was officially unveiled, Bloomberg reported developers were concerned about Rowling’s connection to the project because of her very public and pernicious transphobia. The game’s unveiling immediately met with controversy for the same reasons, leading to WB Games distance yourself from the author.

WB Games president David Haddad later said Rowling was “Entitled to express her personal opinion.”
