Here’s how to register for the coronavirus vaccine in the Houston area

HOUSTON – As more doses of the coronavirus vaccine arrive in the Houston area, officials are speeding up the process of administering those shots.

Vaccines are only available to people who qualify for phases 1A and 1B of the state distribution plan. Click here for more information on who will be included in those stages.

Eligible people can also contact their healthcare provider directly for information on how to receive the vaccine.

The Houston Health Department has launched an online registration portal and a phone line where people can register for appointments. Demand is high and long waiting times have been reported for the telephone line.

On January 4, the health department announced that its COVID-19 vaccination clinic appointments are booked for the remainder of the month of January and that no additional appointments are currently being made. Officials said that as the city allocation of doses increases, more appointments will be available.

Fort Bend Health and Human Services has launched an online registration portal where people can register for appointments when they receive the vaccine.

Officials said they plan to vaccinate some members of the general public when the vaccine is made available to the county. Information on how to make an appointment will be posted at https://mcphd-tx.org/ when doses are available.

Officials said vaccine distribution will take place at Brazoria County health clinics once the county receives its shipments of the vaccine. They said residents should follow the latest updates at https://www.brazoriacountytx.gov/.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has created a map of health care providers who have received doses of the vaccine. You can click here to view it.

Officials said patients should contact the provider directly to determine availability of the vaccine.
