The original Pokémon SnapReleased for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, Professor Oak commissioned players to drive the Zero-One buggy across the generic Pokémon Island. New Pokémon Snap gives players a whole new region to explore, a new professor to guide them, and new ways to edit and share endless photos of cute pocket monsters.
We are conducting an ecological survey of the Lental region New Pokémon Snap. Led by Professor Mirror, we ride the Zero-One again, documenting the wild Pokémon of the various islands of the Lental region.
We take photos of pocket monsters getting their pocket monster, ranked from one to four stars based on photo composition, poses, and how much of the photo’s frame is filled. Throwing special items at Pokémon can change the way they behave, giving us the chance to capture rare poses. The camera can be used for both scanning and photography, uncovering hidden monsters and other secrets that lurk in the landscape.
New Pokémon Snap is not just about filling in a pokédex. We can also edit our personal photos, add filters and stickers and upload them to the web for review by our colleagues.

While there are new layers and features in play, New Pokémon Snap seems to have the same energy as the original 22 years ago. Can’t wait to sit and watch some pocket monsters when the new game falls on April 30.
