Here is the ‘Destiny 2’ season of the chosen roadmap

The Season of Destiny 2’s Chosen Ones has been revealed, and with it comes another season plan that will run from next Tuesday through mid-May, the usual three months. I thought you might want a more permanent place to refer to the roadmap than a tweet, hence this article, but you can see it in a larger form here as I doubt you can see everything that well.

I also wanted to talk a little bit about what was on the roadmap and what surprises or non-surprises we might encounter. These are the main things I notice after going through them:

– The main feature of the season is the new Battlegrounds events, which, if I had to guess, being a three-man made activity, are something we see on the same scale as Forges. From what we can see, there are four in total and they are on Nessus, the Cosmodrome, the Moon and… not sure about the latter (Update: Europe, judging by the trailer). Unlike Forges, they can use existing map areas, I’m not sure yet.

– The two renamed Destiny 1 attacks, Fallen SABER and Devil’s Lair, will launch once the season goes live, although we still don’t know if they are somehow integrated into the story, like The Disgraced in Beyond Light, nor whether they have been rewritten at all or will simply feature original dialogue and bosses.

– The new HELM location has been a bit of a mystery to fans as it appears to be its own separate room, not in the current tower. There is some theory that it is a rebuilt area in the old tower, although not necessarily that the entire old tower comes back to life. The HELM appears to be investing our “currencies in upgrading X Thing for more bonuses” item this season this season, it sounds.

– One thing is nothing but touched on in this roadmap and nowhere else is the arrival of new Stasis Aspect Quests. We don’t know how many (at least one per class, I guess), nor what form they’ll take (more checklists like last time, or an actual mission?). I am sure the effects they have will be non-controversial and will not affect PvP at all. I hope this continues the Clovis / Elsie storyline on Europe so that we don’t completely ditch that location.

– Trials kicks off right away with its new armor set, probably the prettiest we’ve seen this season, and the new trailer showcased a new Trials hand cannon coming to the mode. From what we can see, new Trials loot and new playlist drops seem to be the only thing being added / focused for PvP this season.

– It’s not until more than a month after launch that we get the actual new attack for the season, Proving Grounds, which takes place on a moving tank, and I suspect the delay is because it will have some sort of seasonal story component in it that isn’t right with the launch of the season could take place. Oddly enough, Bungie is doing something where season pass holders are given a warning a week before F2P players. I mean okay?

– Finally, we do Guardian Games to close the season, and while some people say the armor sets remind them of SRL, I’m not buying it. There is a “closing ceremony” this time, although I’m not sure what that will be, although I’ve heard some theorizing about reopening the old tower. My only theory is that Heir Apparent will return, and this time it’s getting a catalyst too.

What not here? A mysterious exotic quest for a Tex Mechanica weapon that some people think is First Curse, but it could all be new. And of course, Bungie may be hiding some more secrets that aren’t mentioned anywhere.

Much of this will depend on the quality of the loot and the seasonal activity, but I’m encouraged with what I’ve seen so far so I’m definitely going to give the season a shot. Stay tuned for more info.
