Students have the choice to return to hybrid instruction or to remain virtual learners.

Like the fall semester, a student can switch between formats as needed based on individual circumstances.

Any student who needs to switch between hybrid and virtual instruction should talk to his / her principal.

For scheduling purposes, students who previously attended four days a week should notify their principal if they only want to come two days a week.

“We have been offering the Personal Option in Salem since its inception on August 31, 2020. The Salem City School Division is currently meeting the VDOE / Governor’s expectations for personal learning and has been in existence since the schools opened last August. We will continue to do this while also following the recommendations for maintaining physical distance and face coverage, ”a school spokesperson said in an email to 10 News. “We are still following the same plan, which has worked well and enabled us to adhere to the six-foot social distance in our uniquely designed buildings. If the recommendation for physical distance change changes, allowing us to increase the number of students who can safely attend school, we are well positioned to transition to higher student attendance. We recognize that online learning has been a struggle for many and so we are implementing plans to help these students with more “face-to-face” learning opportunities.
