Heavy presence of Omaha Police at JC Penney’s Westroads Mall

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Police Department has an active scene outside of JC Penney’s in Westroads Mall.

Witnesses tell 6 News they heard gunfire. Police say people shouldn’t go to the mall today.

Shooting incident at Westroads Mall. One victim was transported to hospital with critical injuries. Suspects have fled the scene and are at large. OPD searches the entire shopping center as a precaution. Avoid the area. A press release will be sent later with more information.

Police were in the same area just over a month ago when a shooting took place at the mall on March 12, injuring OPD officer Jeffrey Wittstruck.
