One of Meghan Markle’s dearest friends, Pilates instructor Heather Dorak, has taken to social media to defend the Duchess in light of the increased tabloid scrutiny she’s seen for her and Prince Harry’s telling interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“It’s hard for me to see her go through everything she has to do, as the Meghan that the press likes to hate,” Dorak began the Instagram post. “Especially since it is so far from the Meghan that I know. Sweet. Kind. Always show up! Two weeks ago she was the first to surprise me with a gift after my knee surgery. Seventeen years ago, she walked into my fledgling Pilates studio and instantly became my rock in everything in my early twenties – career, love, figuring out how to grow up. Since that day it has never remained one of my brightest light sources. “
She continued: “It may be hard to see, but she lives for the small, thoughtful things – flowers for no reason, a random sweet handwritten note. She’s always been really great … M, I love you. “
Dorak’s feelings match those of model Chrissy Teigen, who also defended Markle and suggested that the negative attention she receives could have serious consequences for the pregnant public figure.
“This Meghan Markle st is too close to home for me,” Teigen tweeted Friday. ‘These people don’t stop until she has a miscarriage. F-king stop it. “
Buckingham Palace announced its intention to investigate claims of bullying against Markle by a former staffer, even as others in Markle’s past have massively defended her.
Pauline Maclaran, author of “Royal Fever: The British Monarchy in Consumer Culture,” said this week that the Duke and Duchess’s upcoming CBS special is “of greater danger than Prince Andrew’s interview about car accidents.”
“I think Meghan will get a lot of sympathy, especially from the American public, because her position is untenable,” Maclaran said.
