The Foo Fighters have released a new cover of Chuck Berry’s rock & roll Christmas classic, “Run Rudolph Run”. The song was released as an Amazon Original prior to Foo Fighters’ Amazon Music Vacation plays special, premiering Tuesday, December 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
The track finds the Foo Fighters filtering Berry’s rock & roll boogie through a flaming hard rock lens, cranking the guitars and adding a little more blunt to the drums, without losing the original energy.
The Foo Fighters will play their cover of “Run Rudolph Run” during their Vacation plays delivery. Their special follows performances by Miley Cyrus and Kiana Ledé, while Lil Nas X has hosted the series.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has thoroughly embraced the holiday season this year, both with the Vacation plays special and its series “Hanukkah Sessions” with producer Greg Kurstin. For every night of Hanukkah, Grohl and Kurstin have shared covers of songs by Jewish artists, including Bob Dylan’s ‘Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35’, ‘Fuck the Pain Away’ by Peaches, ‘Mississippi Queen’ by Mountain, the Beastie tackling Boys’ Sabotage, and Drake’s’ Hotline Bling ‘.
In addition, Grohl and the Foo Fighters are preparing for the release of their new album, Medicines at midnight, arriving on February 25.
